Brian
Anderson has been editor of
Mpls.St.Paul
Magazine since 1977, making him the second-longest-tenured city magazine
editor in the country. A native of Minneapolis, he was a 1966 Phi Beta Kappa
graduate of the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism and Mass
Communication. Following graduation he worked six years as a reporter for the
then-
Minneapolis Tribune, three years
in corporate public relations, and two years in Washington, D.C., as a writer,
researcher, and speechwriter for then-U.S. Senator Walter Mondale. He joined the
magazine as editor when its entire staff, including edit, art, sales, and
business, consisted of only twelve people.
He has an adult son and daughter, and currently lives in a downtown
Minneapolis condo with his wife and two teenage
stepdaughters.
