Four foodies, 40,000 taste buds, and 50 restaurants make for a year's worth of
great eating.
March 2008
What’s the difference between the Twin Cities fifty best
restaurants and the fifty our critics would eat at day in and day out? The
question seemed intriguing, so we designed this year’s Best Restaurants feature
with a twist—we asked our critics and columnists to tell us about their favorite
restaurants, the places they eat at when they just want a great evening out. We
wanted a peek inside their dining lives, quirks and all. The results are surely
inclusive of the Cities’ best restaurants, but they include some offbeat
surprises—restaurants built not to satisfy critics, but regular people with good
taste. Perhaps critics are people too. —Adam Platt, Dining Editor
Peter Lilienthal has been reviewing restaurants for Mpls.St.Paul since
1977, but this video tour of his favorite local haunts displays a sensibility
that is thoroughly up-to-date.
When Andrew Zimmern dines out with his family—including his three-year-old—, he leaves his day job as a food professional at the door and frequents local restaurants with well-made food the whole family enjoys.
Mpls.St.Paul Dining Editor Adam Platt does not live in a family full of foodies, but he is a regular at a number of Twin Cities restaurants where the whole family leaves happy.
