Cafe Brenda
The more casual of Brenda Langton’s two eateries, Cafe Brenda offers her signature croquettes, a specialty dish of patties made from whole grains, vegetables, nuts, and beans. The menu also features mock duck tacos and sozia, which consists of brown rice, beans, vegetables, and marinated tofu. Meat entrées include chicken and biscuits, lamb, and walleye—all locally raised. 300 1st Ave. N., Mpls., 612-342-9230

Figlio
For vegetarians, the iconic Uptown eatery offers plenty of pastas and wood-oven pizzas, plus a vegetarian sandwich. The menu also features salmon, tuna, swordfish, chicken, and sausage. 3001 Hennepin Ave., 612-822-1688

The Good Earth
Asian–inspired choices such as vegetable stir-fry with steamed garden vegetables, as well as pastas and eggplant casserole, add to the vegetarian alternatives. There are also plenty of chicken and burgers available. 3460 W. 70th St., Edina, 952-925-1001; 1901 Hwy. 36 W., Roseville, 651-636-0956

Spoonriver
Brenda Langton is a vegetarian pioneer and her menus specialize in seafood, but there is also duck confit salad and grass-fed pork tenderloin. For vegetarians, the menu is loaded with choices such as ricotta cheese ravioli and organic mock duck. 750 S. 2nd St., Mpls., 612-436-2236

W.A. Frost & Company
The changing menu offers various options for vegetarians and meat eaters. Tofu and noodle dishes are often offered as main courses, as are locally raised fish, duck, and beef. Specialty cheese plates supplement the meals nicely. 374 Selby Ave., St. Paul, 651-224-5715
