The new Manny’s couldn’t feel more different than the high-design, forced-trendy W Hotel it sits within at the Foshay Tower. The stuff you didn’t want to lose—the classic bar with checkered tablecloths and celebrity photos, the sassy servers, the top-quality ingredients, the buzz—are all still there. But the bland windowless dining room is gone, replaced by an attractive, timeless black-and-white space with a gorgeous cowhide on one wall. Also banished are the nighttime only hours. Now there’s Manny’s lunch (even breakfast, though the dining room is not really branded as Manny’s in the am), a bigger bar, and a location that’s on the skyway from all the corridors of power. Still, Manny’s has always been an acquired taste—it’s the local steak house with the most bravado, the most aggressive servers, the largest portions—and all that’s there too, ready or not. The place is jumping, so don’t forget to book.
