They serve a lovely beef Carpaccio that's as rosy as berries and pleasantly rich and glossy. An entrée of braised-beef short ribs cacciatore was nothing short of exquisite, the meat tender as jelly, the flavors as intense and finely honed as I've ever experienced.

Meaty and with crispy skin, these wings were fantastic. The mango curry featured a subtle mango and peanut undertone that reminded us of chicken satay. They had a moderate spice level that lingered lightly, but only until relieved with a quick sip of beer.

While the wings were crisp and big with flavor, they were altogether out of place and I wished I were eating them late at night with a last-call cocktail in my hand. Which, thankfully, I can do every night of the week here.

In the meantime, the menu from Caffari and Darin Koch, who followed Caffari from I Nonni, are turning out decent-sized portions of reasonably priced Italian food.
