Sushi at Origami stands up to the stuff served at a good neighborhood restaurant on either coast - while it's not going to equal what they're serving at Jewel Bako in Manhattan or Sushi Ota in San Diego, it's competitive and at the top of the local sushi food chain.

And they graciously served my vegetarian sushi on a separate plate. My asparagus sushi was crispy and had a flavorful (and unexpected) mayo component.

For a selection that straddles the two worlds of the raw and the cooked, try the encounter: salmon, scallops, avocado, pickled ginger and burdock wrapped in nori and then deep-fried like tempura.

Origami makes the freshest, most elegant sushi in town-the kind you want to eat slowly, with your eyes closed. Sushi purists will be gratified by simple fresh preparations of nigiri and sashimi-buttery hamachi, sweet unagi, and tender maguro-all perfect and lovely in their plating.
