Poetry Man, as it is known on the street, is the work of sculptor Allen Christian. The sculpture faces the Third Avenue side of Colonial Warehouse, where the sculptor’s long-standing Warehouse District destination, House of Balls, evolved from his peculiar preoccupation with releasing the souls of used bowling balls. Passersby can rearrange the Poetry Man’s magnetic words any way they choose. On any given day, you can read such lines as “my sweet cheeks moan nice” or “work of impossible machines puts together time.” But it’s more fun to make your own contribution.  212 3rd Ave. N.
