Fashioned is not really a show about
fashion, but rather an exploration of the various ways in which identity and
persona are “fashioned” through clothes, tattoos, and other personal effects.
The exhibit features the work of six photographers, all of whom approach the
central theme of the show in very different ways. Each has a distinct eye for
details and ironies that illuminate interesting aspects of the “self”-making
process, from the t-shirts people choose to wear to the posturing of kids
searching for an identity
that fits. Fashioned,
at the Minnesota Center for Photography, runs May 3 through
July 13., 612-824-5500.
