Celebrating the art of collaboration in the Twin Cities.
Collaboration is key for an orchestra to perform on a world-class level—whether it is between the conductor and musicians, the musicians themselves, or the relationship between the orchestra and a sponsor. Through its partnership, UBS, one of the world’s leading financial firms, helps the Minnesota Orchestra bring its music to the communities of the Twin Cities.
Under Osmo Vänskä’s seasoned leadership, the Minnesota Orchestra continues to deliver world-class performances. This music, however, would not be able to reach the Twin Cities community as readily as it does without the support of UBS, which is the orchestra’s first-ever full-season sponsor. “We were honored to be chosen to partner with them,” says Heather Shiell, director of Institutional Giving with the Minnesota Orchestra. “UBS sets a high standard: They work with so many renowned orchestras and have shown a great commitment to supporting the arts.” UBS’s assistance allows the Minnesota Orchestra to present classics, such as Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3, and feature artists while also reaching more than 400,000 people of all ages and musical tastes with award-winning educational programming, Shiell notes.
UBS currently sponsors nine symphony orchestras in the US, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Philadelphia Orchestra, and is the leading corporate support of orchestral music in the US. UBS is also the sponsor of important music festivals such as the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.
As Kim Jenson, Midwest regional manager for UBS, says, “For UBS, being the first-ever season sponsor of the Minnesota Orchestra and partnering with Minnesota Public Radio and the UBS Forum are examples of the firm’s dedication to supporting the communities where we live and work."
