2009 Volunteers of the Year: Fran Davis

Longtime volunteer Fran Davis’s service began on the board of a struggling modern dance company in her home state of Michigan. “The company still made it 15 years,” Davis says proudly. After moving to the Twin Cities in 1984 to work with Dayton’s, Davis, now a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Burnet, quickly graduated from serving on the board of a struggling company to working with the best of the Twin Cities arts community, including the boards of the Guthrie Theater, Children’s Theatre Company, and the Ivey Awards. When she’s not championing the arts, she’s fighting for the well-being of women and kids through organizations such as Planned Parenthood and womenwinning, where she serves on the board. Davis stresses that she is happy to help when she can but has also learned to recognize when her plate is full. “When I get involved, I tend to really get involved,” she says. “So I have to know my own limitations!”
