Penny LarsEn Munson had been designing jewelry for nearly 10 years when, in 2001, while shopping for her wedding gown at Amy Jane Bridal (now L’atelier Couture), she was introduced to the world of bridal couture. “Up until then I had been designing more artsy jewelry, but Amy Jane offered a trade—a gown for some jewelry to sell in her shop, and I couldn’t resist.” Using an array of metalworking and gem-setting techniques—including granulation and filigree—and inspired by 19th- and 20th-century vintage jewelry, Munson quickly made a name for herself in the bridal community. In addition to custom engagement rings and bridal jewelry, Munson creates a collection of hand-made earrings, bracelets, and necklaces featuring 14 and 22k gold and precious and semi-precious stones such as apatite, peridot, citrine, and diamonds. She also plans to expand the collection to include evening-wear jewelry. Custom designs start at $300. 612-616-8941, pennylarsenjewelry.com
