Smarter?

Bill Gross from Pimco. David Rosenberg from Merrill Lynch. Paul Douglas is secretly one of the smartest business people in the Twin Cities.

Genius?

Matt Groening. Don’t laugh. Actually, you can’t help it. He understands people on a level we don’t see, and he brings that understanding to a level we can effortlessly appreciate.

Best advice?

My finance professor taught us, “Be certain there will be no smiles at your funeral.”

Biggest mistake?

I always thought you could learn the most from highly successful people. I think you can learn more talking to those who have failed.

Free time?

I don’t think you can ever hurt yourself by learning as much as you can. That could be reading or watching Discovery Channel with your kids.

IQ pill?

You looked in my sock drawer, didn’t you?

Greatest impact?

The return to multigenerational homes. Health care and living costs will increase to a level that will need to be spread over more than just one family unit.

Wisdom with age?

Wisdom is a function of experience. There are very young people who have witnessed birth, death, sacrifice, greed, jealousy, kindness, generosity, war, fear, success, failure, and possess great wisdom due to their experiences.
