Today's Health Tip

Health Tip from David Hilden, MD, internist at Hennepin County Medical Center

Happy Fourth of July!
Every year, hospital emergency departments around the country care for children and adults who have been injured by fireworks. Common sense is the key to being safe, but children don’t always understand how much a firework can hurt them – until it does. Even sparklers can cause serious burns and injuries in little hands. It’s up to adults to talk to kids about the dangers of fireworks. On this Fourth of July holiday, enjoy the picnics, parades and sunshine – but leave the fireworks displays to the professionals.
