Located in the carriage house of the historic Semple Mansion, Koficore Studio is a beautifully renovated space that boasts the charm of neo-classic design with the modern fitness amenities of a boutique gym. Shiny Brazilian cherry wood floors and contemporary lighting contrast the wood ceiling beams, brick walls, and original architecture. (The mansion and carriage house were constructed in the late 1800s.) Instead of rows and rows of cardio machines that clutter typical gyms, Koficore offers a large, open space for use of free weights, balls, bands, Bosus, and other core-strengthening equipment.

“It’s a private studio,” explains owner and president Kofi Robinson. “Which means it’s not publicly accessible. It’s a personal service-based facility that offers personalized attention. More personalized attention means better results. You get what you pay for here.”

In short, Robinson describes Koficore as “performance coaching with some group fitness classes.” And it’s this combination of one-on-one training with energetic group classes that keeps his clients coming back for more.

Robinson’s fitness philosophy focuses on strengthening the body’s core and perfecting basic movements. “People don’t know how misaligned they are,” he says. “That is our specialty. You need to address alignment and core function before you can reach your fitness status.”

And surely, the dynamic Koficore classes get easier as you strengthen your core. From Bosu Bootcamp and Absolution to Vinyasa Yoga and Mat Pilates, clients are never left with an excuse for not working their muscles.

Koficore also features a private and serene room for massage and acupuncture—a perfect place to unwind after a long session with your trainer or an intensive bootcamp class. Plus, a clean washroom gives clients an area to shower and change before they head home or back to work.

In addition, Robinson offers services as a certified holistic life coach. He’ll discuss sleep patterns, diet, stress level, immune system, and other lifestyle aspects that might be getting in the way of achieving your most healthy self.
