The red and white former shipping containers that bookend the Stankeys’ work-in-progress are not the only recycled items the family has put to good use. Salvaged windows were installed in the upper wall atop the red box, and birch plywood “drops” rescued from a dumpster finish the walls in the loft. “I guess we were green before it became mainstream,” says Scott Stankey.
