Simplicity

Color Blocking

Use color in large graphic ways. Instead of small, intricate florals, go bold in fabrics, wallpapers, and rugs. Or choose an accent chair in a shocking solid pink to add punch to a room. Texture

When choosing solid fabrics, select patterned wools or rich chenilles, mohairs, and velvets. Fabrics shown are all by Glant from Holly Hunt (to the trade) and include linen, silk, bouclé, velvet, and mohair in such colors as cashew, bittersweet, sable, and mocha. Texture is also showing up in selections of woods with heavy graining—including zebrawood—as well as pieces with grooved detailing, such as the Louve stool/table ($349) from Room & Board. Rugs

Clean lines and solid fabrics in furniture welcome color and pattern when it comes to floor coverings. Brown
Chocolate brown leather. Rich woods with espresso stains. Variations on dark brown are showing up on floors, walls, furniture, and accent pieces. Browns provide a warm contrast to oatmeal, pinks, and light and aqua blues.
