PROJECT: Home office/study center for two sisters
FIRM: Martha O’Hara Interiors, oharainteriors.com; designers Jayme Meyer, Laura Peck, Darsi Floersch, Allied Members, ASID
WHY WE LOVE IT: You’re never too young to appreciate great design.

From the moment we saw this stylish sliver of a room, we fell in love with the charming mix of romance and practicality. When we learned that designers Jayme Meyer, Laura Peck, and Darsi Floersch created this home office/study center for two young sisters, we were downright envious. Who wouldn’t love to have an elegant, thoughtfully designed space for doing homework, browsing iTunes, Facebooking, and chillaxin’ with a good book? Even advanced calculus would be a pleasure!

What’s remarkable about this room is that it’s only about 8 by 10 feet—“barely enough room to fit a rug,” Meyer laughs. More incredible is how much style and functionality the designers managed to pack into this tiny but sophisticated space. The custom-designed desk with its pristine white Cambria countertop makes the most of the narrow area with its generous drawers (complete with crystal knobs!) for supplies, folders, and other necessities.

We particularly love the whimsical, lighthearted mix of genres—a sparkling chandelier from Bellacore plays well with classic desk lamps from Target, while sleek white Panton chairs provide a modern contrast to the deep, comfortable Bernhardt Design chairs upholstered in fabulous flocked fabric by Osborne & Little. We give the talented designers an A+ for elegance!
