Standing 5’8” with a taut build, legs for days, big eyes, and full lips, Molly Oberstar certainly looks the part of a model. But her appearance is also a refreshing departure from the innocuous blondes these north woods habitually manufacture.

Born and raised in Duluth, the 20-year-old University of Minnesota freshman credits her strong physique to 15 years on the skating rink—she recently finished 15th at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Perhaps that’s why a series of movement-based shots were the best picks from our recent photo shoot. Once photographer William Clark asked Molly to start jumping’à la the happy, leaping models seen in Vogue—her athleticism and confidence started to shine through. Sporting an abstract-print minidress, big curls, and mascara-coated eyelashes, Molly is the perfect muse for fashion’s current love affair with everything ’80s.
