Tight economy or not, most of us will cut back on our lattes before we’ll scrimp on our haircuts. Our hair may just be our most important accessory—a means of self-expression and a target for our catharsis. Our hairdos define us, from the Lafayette Club lady who lunches in a perfectly blown-out bob, to the First Avenue techie sporting a purple Mohawk, to the Fallon adman with the just-so sideburns.
