If you’re
looking for darling toys and children’s gifts, there’s a
fabulous temporary
boutique set up on Macy’s eighth floor as part of
the Mary Poppins show. No,
it’s not all Mary Poppins stuff—it runs
the gamut from candy to
little toys, to dolls, room décor items,
stuffed animals, even a play kitchen
set. If you’re only there to shop,
just slip past the line of people waiting for
the show and stay to the
left to enter through the exit. If you haven’t yet
taken in the Mary
Poppins show at Macy’s—don’t miss it!

The Lancôme
counter at the Nicollet
Mall Macy's
has added a full-service brow
design studio. I hate to give away the name of my
newfound eyebrow
Svengali, but esthetician Adelina Prado is amazing. Not only
does she
wax and tweeze to perfection, but she also consults clients on how to
keep brows looking shapely between sessions. Appointments, 612-375-2184

Pink
for girls and blue for boys is cliché. The furniture, accessories, and textiles
from ducduc
stimulate the senses with color, but the designs are sleek enough for a trendy
loft space. The crayon colored palette does include pink and blue, but the
colors are imagined in a more contemporary, less dainty way.

Greenwich Village shop, Mxyplyzyk (mix-ee-pliz-ik), is nationally known
for its well-designed, affordable mix of housewares and gifts. And since
Manhattan is too long a drive for Saturday shopping trips, were glad its website
has all the same great items. Insomniacs be forewarned.
