Expecting Über Baby

Lynne and Dan Gonsier gave birth—then got pregnant.

Actually, two years ago the husband and wife team opened their trend-forward baby store, Über Baby. They quickly earned a following among cool moms who had plans for more children. Their first customers—and many more like them—wanted a maternity store that would help them stay ahead of the fashion curve while their own curves were growing.

The Gonsiers recently opened Expecting Über Baby (6001 Lyndale Ave. S., 612-869-0930) in a space adjacent to their first store in south Minneapolis. The strategy for both concepts is the same—find exciting new products, develop private label lines, and continue to wow and delight with local designer exclusives. Lynne is drawn to sources in LA, so both shops have a definite fashionista vibe, and she stresses that they don’t stay on a trend too long. From chic diaper bags to sleek wrap-dresses, the current mix at Expecting Über Baby includes denim, sexy tops, great weekend wear, lounge wear, and lots of great basics—with stylish, body-hugging silhouettes—in must-have black. Soon the shop also will be carrying designs by Liz Lange—not to be confused with her collection for a certain big box retailer. Now there’s no reason for mom to miss a fashion beat.
