Serif or sans, shown in the pattern of language or nonsensical code, the twenty-six letters of the English alphabet and ten cardinal numbers are both graphic and iconic. Used sparingly in décor or as statement accessories, the ABCs and 123s of our childhood are a grown-up alternative to more expected florals and geometrics.
