Where: Red Wing

Why: There’s always something happening here—September 22–24 marks the fifth annual Studio Ramble, featuring thirty artists and twelve studios, where you can learn about the craft and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces.

How: It’s less than an hour’s drive on U.S. 61.

Stay: Golden Lantern Inn is quaint and quiet for a quick getaway. A night runs $99 to $225.

Eat: A few of the Ramble’s stops are across the Eisenhower Bridge in Wisconsin. So stop at the nearby Nortons’ Restaurant for a glass of wine and a warm meal in the cozy dining room.

Pack: Wheels—you’ll need a car or bike to get to all the studios.

P.S.: Learn about Minnesota winemaking at Falconer Vineyards.
