Quebec City![]() Where: Quebec City Why: Canada’s coolest hotel is a must-see for adventure travelers and a romantic destination for couples seeking a little love on the rocks. How: Fly via Toronto, Newark, or Detroit to Quebec City, then it’s twenty-five minutes by car to Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier. February airfares ran roughly $500 roundtrip at press time. Stay: The 30,000-square-foot Ice Hotel (877-505-0423) houses an ice gallery, bar, and themed suites (outfitted with ice-block beds covered with deer pelts) and is kept at a cozy twenty-five degrees (bathrooms are heated). Rates range from $199 to $1,300 (Canadian) and may include, depending on the package, arctic sleeping bags, pillows, vodka cocktails, meals, bedside hot chocolate or coffee, and gratuity. Eat: Indoors, next door at Auberge Duchesnay for a four-course dinner and breakfast (included in some Ice Hotel packages). Pack: Gloves for holding your “vodka in the rocks,” swimsuits for the on-site hot tubs, and cold weather gear for dog sledding and snowmobiling. P.S.: Make it a white wedding and exchange vows inside the hotel’s ice chapel.
