Where: Park City Why: In terms of destination ski trips, this is a pretty close getaway. The town has loads of charm, with lots of ski-in/ski-out options. Plus, the Sundance Film Festival begins on January 18. How: Salt Lake City is less than a three-hour direct flight on Northwest; tickets were under $500 at presstime. From there, it’s thirty minutes to the resort area. Stay: Steps away from the lifts, the log cabin–style condos at Black Bear Lodge have big kitchens, tasteful décor, fireplaces, and hot tubs. Two-bedroom condos start at $670 until the regular-season rate of $870 kicks in on January 11. Check online for specials. Eat: Main Street offers every kind of cuisine, though many restaurants are open for dinner only. Try Bandits’ Grill & Bar, which serves hearty barbeque specials, including an addictive barbeque chicken chopped salad. 435-649-7337 Pack: Your ski bunny best—this isn’t Aspen, but fashion is definitely part of the scene here. P.S.: Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort is less than an hour south.
