Napa Valley

Bookmark and Share
Where: Napa Valley

Why: It’s a perennial paradise, but during the annual Mustard Festival (held this year from January 27 to March 31), the region offers another reason to party, with events related to food, wine, and art.

How: Book a direct flight to San Francisco (fares were $359 at presstime), and drive about ninety minutes northeast.

Stay: The rustic yet luxurious Calistoga Ranch is made up of freestanding guest lodges ($525–$1,000 in February, up to $3,200 in peak season) with fireplaces and great views. The Ranch also has a high-end bathhouse spa. 707-254-2800

Eat: The hot table in town is Cyrus, where chef Douglas Keane, who won Food & Wine’s coveted “best new chef” award, draws plenty of local fans with his “contemporary luxury cuisine.” 707-433-3311

Pack: A wine opener. Sounds silly, but you never know when an impromptu picnic will take place and you don’t want to be empty-handed.

P.S.: Determined to score a table at the legendary French Laundry? For your best shot, call two months before the desired day. 707-944-2380
