Where: Wisconsin Dells

Why: The Midwest’s first residential spa community is opening up within Sundara Inn & Spa. The “lifestyle” villas take relaxation to a whole new level with a menu of treatments, activities, and personal consultations.

How: Around 200 miles east of the Twin Cities; take I–94 to Highway 23.

Stay: The new villas at Sundara (920 Canyon Rd., Wisconsin Dells, 888-735-8181) sleep up to eight people, start at $400 a night, and require a two-night minimum. There are also twenty-six distinctive suites ($199–$649) in the original inn, each with a king featherbed and fireplace. Check the website for seasonal specials and packages.

Eat: There’s room service and organic fare if you want to stay in your robe, or a Town Car will take you out to Field’s at the Wilderness Steakhouse (511 E. Adams St., 608-253-1400), designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé James R. Dresser.

Pack: Peace and quiet. Sundara says no to cell phones and laptops—except in the room if you must—and maintains a no-smoking policy.

P.S.: Keep the kids at home; this is the rare Dells destination that’s for adults only.
