You asked: Is it okay to ask our guests to pay for drinks at our reception?

Heidi says: Wedding protocol says no. But who says you need to have alcohol at your wedding? Brunch and luncheon receptions are especially well- suited for alcohol-free celebrations. Or if you don't want to completely rule out alcohol, consider treating your guests to a round of champagne for the wedding toasts and then limiting beverage offerings to sparkling water, fresh juices, and soft drinks—complimentary, of course.
