Looking for a glamourous Badgley Mischka wedding dress? Or perhaps a more dramatic gown—something with an Elizabethan twist? Newly opened Grace Bridal, in Excelsior, is a great spot to find traditional gowns with tasteful, fashion-forward touches.

First cousins and owners Jocelyn Davis-George and Amanda Henke (inset) named the store for their grandmother, who encouraged their girlhood fantasies by letting them play dress-up with her wedding gown. In fact, when brides enter the store, they’re greeted by two vintage dresses: Grace’s lacy 1956 gown and a 1930s beauty worn by their great-grandmother.

The spacious spread of contemporary fashions is even more impressive. Grace is the only local salon to carry Badgley Mischka wedding dresses. Adventurous brides should check the gowns by Ian Stuart, a London designer who favors bold, theatrical numbers with avant-garde detailing. Those destined for a destination or garden wedding may want to try on the lightweight, bohemian dresses by an emerging design house called The Cotton Bride.
