49 Eco-Friendly Invites Add an earth-friendly twist to your invitations by using recycled papers. According to Jennifer Norman of
Pulp Fashion in Stillwater, factors to consider include the amount of pre- or post-consumer waste in the paper, how the paper was produced, and what kinds of inks will be used. Even eco-embellishments, such as cotton ribbon, can enhance the green twist. Also think about ways to consolidate all the pieces in a traditional invitation into a more streamlined package. Consider a postcard reply to save an envelope or, for less formal weddings, even an e-reply might do.

There are plenty of ways to go green with your wedding greenery. We asked Kimberly Harrison, owner of Artemisia Flower Studio in Minneapolis, to give us the scoop:
What It Means: Eco-friendly flowers have at least one of three attributes, says Harrison: They’re sustainable, organic, or local (and sometimes all three!).
What to Look For: There are several labels that help ensure eco-friendliness. The USDA certifies organic flowers, while VeriFlora certifies those that are sustainably grown. A good florist can also tell you where the flowers come from and how they were grown.
Creative Alternatives: Instead of using cut flowers, try decorating the wedding space with potted flowers. An added bonus? They can double as favors for guests to take home at the end of the event. Artemisia Flowers, 4912 Portland Ave. S., Mpls., 612-220-8890
