A decade or two ago, a bridal couple planning their wedding wheels had a choice between a limousine or Uncle Roy’s convertible. Now couples can use virtually any mode of transportation to get from point A to point B. Here are a few Twin Cities favorites.

Limousines, Vans, and Trolleys
A limousine will whisk you away from the church and deliver you and your wedding party safely to the reception—all in the grandest style. Limousines typically range in size from a standard six-person stretch sedan to supersize models that can hold as many as sixteen people. Custom “party vans” are available with bars, not to mention bartenders. Trolleys are another charming way to transport groups.

Timeless Transportation
Vintage Rolls Royces and Packards can lend a Goldeneera aura to your wedding. A classic car is smart if you’d like some quiet time  with your newly betrothed before you’re swept up in the celebratory atmosphere of your reception.

Extravagant Autos
You’ve no doubt seen them cruising Twin Cities roadways. Stretch SUVs, including Hummers, are guaranteed head turners. Other Twin Cities companies rent flashy sports cars.

Horse-Drawn Carriages and Sleighs
A horse-drawn carriage, decorated to match the theme of your wedding and outfitted to the season, lends a storybook charm to the event.

A sleigh with lanterns and jingle bells is a perfect touch for a winter wedding, while a rig decorated with flowers and cowbells is perfect for a country wedding. Many drivers have costumes to fit the style of your wedding.

Visit the stables to see the carriage and horses that will be used for your wedding and to make sure a carriage trip is a good option for you. A horse-drawn carriage travels about a mile in fifteen minutes, so be realistic about your traveling distance. (You can always clickety-clack away in a carriage for a few blocks to where a limo is waiting.)

Another important tip? Be on the safe side and make sure the company you’re considering carries liability insurance.

Other Ideas
A hay wagon, a tandem bicycle, a hot air balloon, a motorcycle…as with every other detail in your wedding, with a little creativity, your transportation can be a fun reflection of you as a couple.
