Intown Retreat
The cabins of Brainerd and the mountain lodges of Montana inspired the architecture of this 6,215-square-foot home built by Smuckler Custom Builders on a heavily wooded Edina lot. The homeowners wanted to capture the warmth and character created by the combination of natural wood and stone so often used in lodge-like structures.

Grand View
The foyer leads directly to the two-story, twenty-five-foot high vaulted great room. The space features cherry wood soffits with uplighting that shines on the Fond du Lac and Chilton stone piers. Floor-to-ceiling windows encased by cherry molding capture views of the surrounding woods, which complement the rough-hewn, double-stacked pine log beams abutting the clear cedar tongue-and-groove ceiling.
